Plasma – electron storm in the exhaust air duct

What is plasma actually?
There are four states of matter: solid, liquid, gaseous and plasma. In plasma, the molecules are in such a high energy state that the molecular bonds break down and free radicals are formed. These are then ready to form new bonds as soon as the energy decreases.
The generation of plasma normally requires very high energy. Our sun is a huge ball of plasma. Even lightning briefly generates plasma and free radicals.
Alnewa uses so-called non-thermal plasma, or NT plasma for short, which can be generated electrically with comparatively low energy.
.
Non-thermal plasma and how it works
Non-thermal plasma, also known as cold or atmospheric plasma, differs from thermal plasma in the temperature distribution of its particles: While in thermal plasmas both electrons and the heavy particles (ions, molecules) have a similar temperature, in non-thermal plasma the electrons are very energetic and hot, while the heavy particles remain relatively cold. This temperature imbalance enables high reactivity at low temperatures.
Anwendungen heute
Industrial exhaust air
Plasma breaks down organic compounds in exhaust air containing pollutants, e.g. from paint shops. A space-saving and clean solution.
Gastronomy exhaust air
Plasma breaks down greasy and smelly exhaust air into harmless and odorless components. The exhaust air is practically odorless.
Replacement of thermal post-combustion
If the pollutants are primarily organic in nature, plasma-based systems can replace unclean and expensive gas combustion. The CO₂ footprint is reduced by up to 99%.
Cleaning the breathing air
In Wohnbereichen und in der Lebensmittelindustrie befreit Plasma die Luft zu 99% von Allergenen, Keimen, Sporen und selbst von Gerüchen.
Give yourself a head start.
For companies in the cement industry and other heat-intensive sectors, it is vital to significantly reduce CO₂ emissions. Now is the time to take action and invest in innovative technologies before the cost of certificates rises even higher and the competition is one step ahead of you.
